Nedlands Rugby S&C

Updated: Nov 8, 2019

This season I was the Nedlands Rugby Club Strength and Conditioning coach. Its a role I had since 2018 but this year I was given more of a hands on role and responsibility thanks to Sam Rarasea the head coach

Changes

We changed a lot this year and we were lucky we had huge buy in from the players. We put a big emphasis on recovery. We got players weighing in before and after games. We got players fuelling up straight after games with food and protein shakes. We also implemented yoga and the use of the polar room for recovery. With the players we also tracked all their results for their fitness tests throughout the year and kept stats on their workloads on the field. I believe by doing that it helped keep our soft tissue injuries down from previous years, allowing the players to have more time on the field.

The Season

During the season we saw a huge increase in the players fitness and the results showed on the field. We won the minor premiership for 2019, and made it through to the grand final. Looking forward to progressing further next season.
